ICTP Phone system using Voice Over Internet Protocol, replacing the old phone system in early 2025
Presentation
In early 2025, we are replacing the existing phone system with a modern one. It uses Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP).
Changes
- The old handsets and DECTs (mobile devices) cannot be used anymore.
- In guest rooms and offices not assigned to a single staff member, new handsets are installed.
- People with a personal phone number can use headsets with their computers or the smartphone app.
- The internal numbers change. Three-digit numbers get one digit prepended, typically a 4.
