IT'S A MATERIAL WORLD
Nobel Laureate Philip W. Anderson, a professor at Princeton University and a member of ICTP's Scientific Council, presented two lectures to the IX Trieste Workshop on Open Problems in Strongly Correlated Systems. The workshop was organised by ICTP Research Scientists, Professors Erio Tosatti and Yu Lu, as well as by Prof. Piers Coleman from Rutgers State University. It has become one of the largest international gatherings of theoretical and experimental physicists involved in researching solid materials in which electronic processes are dominated by strong electron-electron repulsions. The best known of these materials are high-temperature superconductors.
