Prof. Maurizio Zifferero, a former Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), died in June. Prof. Zifferero, a long-time point of contact for the ICTP at IAEA, gained worldwide notoriety as the leader of a United Nations team of experts responsible for inspecting Iraq's nuclear and biological facilities after the Gulf War in 1991.
