APS CENTENNIAL
Hilda Cerdeira, Head of the ICTP/Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Donation Programme, participated in a panel discussion on the international aspects of electronic publications, particularly the potential impact of international copyright laws and regulations on the distribution of information posted on the internet. Cerdeira's comments were made at the Centennial Meeting of the American Physical Society (APS), held 20-26 March in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. In addition, Cerdeira was informed that APS will permit the Donation Programme to download and distribute issues of PROLA (1985-1996) to the world's least developed countries. PROLA is the "online archive" of Physical Review. The Centennial meeting, the largest gathering of physicists in history, was attended by more than 10,000 scientists from around the world.
