The ICTP continues to attract ambassadors and ministers, confirming the importance of its role among Third World countries. Ana Maria Deustua, Peru's Ambassador to Italy, visited the Centre on 4 December on the occasion of the official opening of the honorary consulate of Peru in Trieste. Mostafa Moin, Iran's Minister of Science, visited the Centre on 8 December to attend the TWAS Conference and meet with ICTP Director Miguel Virasoro. The Minister discussed potential opportunities for wider cooperation between the Centre and the government of Tehran.
