PRIMO ROVIS PRIZE FOR GHIRARDI AND HACK
GianCarlo Ghirardi, Director of the Department of Theoretical Physics at the University of Trieste and Head of ICTP's Associates and Federation Schemes, received the Premio internazionale Primo Rovis for his contributions to the popularisation of scientific culture. He shared the prize with Margherita Hack, former director of the Trieste Astronomical Observatory. The awards presentation took place in the Main Lecture Room in the Adriatico Guesthouse on 21 June as part of the ceremony marking the inauguration of Immaginario Scientifico, Trieste's new interactive science museum. Last month, Kluwer Academic, one of the world's largest science publishers, appointed Ghirardi to the editorial board of its book series Fundamental Theories of Physics.
