The Centre's year 2000 Scientific Calendar is now available on the internet. Next year's training and research activities will begin on 1 February with the School on Magnetic Properties of Condensed Matter Investigated by Neutron Scattering and Synchrotron Radiation Techniques and end in December with the Microprocessor Laboratory 7th Course on Basic VLSI Design Techniques. All told, there will be some 35 research activities, ranging from a colloquium on the physics of weather and climate to a course on mathematical ecology to workshops on string theory, black holes, statistical physics and nuclear data collection. During the year, some 4000 scientists are expected to visit the Centre.
