Frans Lettenstrom, Director of Electronic Licensing, Academic Press, Barcelona, Spain, visited the ICTP on 21 June to discuss the state of a proposed agreement with the ICTP/TWAS Donation Programme to distribute individual scientific articles via email to developing world scientists who do not have access to sufficient bandwidth to download material from the internet in a timely manner and/or cannot afford the connection. The American Physical Society, Institute of Physics Publishing and World Scientific Publishing Co. have agreed to similar arrangements. Detailed frameworks of the agreements will be worked out during the summer and the system is scheduled to be in place sometime this fall.
