Elsa Kelly, Ambassador of Argentina to Italy, visited the ICTP on 20 February to meet with ICTP Director Miguel Virasoro and SISSA Director Daniele Amati. They were joined by Tito Baralle and Oscar Burrone from the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), and Carlos Balseiro, former director of the Centro Atómico Bariloche. Ambassador Kelly discussed ways to continue to strengthen co-operation between Trieste's international scientific institutions and her country. She also met with the Centre's visiting scientists and students. Since the Centre's inception, some 1700 Argentinean scientists have come to Trieste to participate in ICTP research and training activities.
