APPOINTMENTS
Claudio Tuniz has been appointed special advisor to the ICTP director. Tuniz, who was born near Gorizia, Italy, and educated at the University of Trieste, previously served as scientific counselor at the Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations Organizations in Vienna and director of the physics division and head of the accelerator mass spectrometry centre at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization in Sydney. Seifallah Randjbar-Daemi has been named special assistant to the director, a post that will allow him, among other things, to serve as "a sounding board for matters concerning the interface between the Centre and the developing world." In addition to his new responsibilities, Randjbar-Daemi will continue to head ICTP's High Energy Physics group.
