Women and Physics
The UNESCO Center in Turin, Italy, in collaboration with the Department of Physics of the University of Turin, Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), Gustavo Colonnetti Meteorological Institute (IMGC), and Centro studi e documentazione pensiero femminile in Turin, organized a two-day trip to Trieste to reward the winners of the contest “Women and Physics: A Possible Vocation". Nearly 300 young women representing 21 schools from all over Italy participated in the contest, and 40 were selected as winners. They visited Trieste to acquaint themselves with the city’s scientific institutes and learn more about what it is like to be a scientist. In addition to ICTP, they spent time at Elettra Synchrotron Light Laboratory and the Astronomic Observatory.
