Dirac Medallist Giorgio Parisi Honoured
ICTP Dirac Medallist Giorgio Parisi, University “La Sapienza", Rome, has won the Dannie Heineman Prize for Mathematical Physics. The mathematical physics prize, which is awarded on behalf of the Heineman Foundation by the American Institute of Physics (AIP) and the American Physical Society (APS), was presented to Parisi at the APS annual meeting in Los Angeles on 22 March.
Parisi has been honoured for his âfundamental theoretical discoveries in broad areas of elementary particle physics, quantum field theory, and statistical mechanics; especially for work on spin glasses and disordered systems.â
