ICTP for IRI
Pierdavide Coïsson, research scientist with the ICTP Aeronomy and Radiopropagation Laboratory (ARPL), presented an improved model for representing the behaviour of the upper part of the ionosphere at the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) 2005 workshop held in Tortosa, Spain, from 27th June to 1st July. IRI is a model based on all available data. It is updated continually by a group of international scientists sponsored by the International Council for Science’s (ICSU) Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) and the International Union of Radio Science (URSI). Workshop participants agreed to incorporate ICTP’s model into IRI in the months ahead.
