2007 marked not only the centenary of Imperial College London but also the 50th anniversary of the late Nobel Laureate Professor Abdus Salam’s arrival at the College. Accordingly, a conference entitled "Salam + 50” was held at Imperial College on 7 July 2007. The proceedings, edited by Michael Duff and published by Imperial College Press, record the contributions by the many distinguished guests who attended the conference and paid their respects to Professor Salam. ICTP Director, K.R. Sreenivasan, and the former Staff Scientist, Faheem Hussain, have contributed two chapters in the section "Salam the Humanitarian".
