You can find answers to these questions and more by viewing ICTP's new statistics poster, "ICTP in Numbers 2008".  The poster summarises such visitor information as duration of visits, types of training activities and geographic distribution for countries of origin. It also provides trend analyses of visitor numbers from developed and developing regions as well as the number of countries represented during the past few decades.
