ICTP in Physics World
Article highlights June workshop on physics-inspired biology
An article summarising the highlights of an ICTP conference that brought together physicists and biologists has appeared in the July 2009 issue of Physics World. The June conference, titled ‘From DNA-Inspired Physics to Physics-Inspired Biology’, aimed not only to present how theoretical physics has been applied to various aspects in biology but also to understand the challenges biologists face so that collaborative efforts can be proposed to meet these challenges. It was co-sponsored by the Wellcome Trust, London.
The Physics World article was written by Alexei Kornyshev of Imperial College, London, a condensed-matter theorist working at the interface of physics, chemistry and biology. Kornyshev was an organiser of the ICTP conference.
